From Allowance to Steady Income

Steady income arrives on a schedule, so you can plan with it.

The idea

Income is money that comes in to you, like allowance, gift money, or pay for doing jobs. Steady income means it arrives on a regular schedule, such as every Saturday, so you can actually plan around it. You can make income steadier by agreeing with a grown-up on exactly which jobs you do, how often you do them, and what each one pays. When you know roughly what is coming in, deciding what to save and what to spend gets a lot easier. 💪

income

Money that comes in to you. Allowance, a birthday gift, and a paycheck are all income.

allowance

Money a grown-up gives you regularly, often for chores. Like $10 every Saturday.

chore

A job around the house that someone needs done. Taking out the bins, washing up, walking the dog.

steady

Happening on a regular schedule you can count on. $10 every Saturday is steady; finding coins is not.

budget

A plan for what your money will do. Deciding your $10 goes $5 save, $3 spend, $2 give — before Saturday arrives.
